The above is the opening letter in a short story that I wrote for Creative Writing called Kindred Blade. It is a modern day fictional narrative about betrayal and revenge, where Devlin, the teenage protagonist, is seeking to find his mother and have her answer for what she did to him as a child. The point of the letter is to conceal the true nature of Freya and portray her as a nice and caring mother to Devlin, when in truth, she abandoned him and left him to fend for himself on the streets.
